Social media lands in Davos
February 3rd, 2009 by Jon Clements
Apart from pondering on the collective shame of how the world’s economy has imploded, the World Economic Forum at Davos had another story to tell this year.
A post-forum analysis shows that its foray into the world of social media couldn’t have been more fulsome, with polls done via Facebook, news on Twitter feeds, videos on YouTube and photo galleries on Flickr.
TechCrunch also noted the private networking site designed for the great and the good at the Forum – WELCOM – aimed at encouraging participants to share ideas via the virtual meeting space.
On the media front, Tim Weber, BBC business editor, had a regular Twitter feed direct from Davos, giving news and analysis as it happened.
So, did all the talk and orgy of social media count for much? The Wall Street Journal’s precis couldn’t be more curt.
